Peaceable Yoga

Real, practical yoga: breath, movement, and alignment, balancing flexibility with strength, taught with twenty-five years of clear, attentive presence.

Philosophy

My yoga will surprise you by giving you an idea of how good your body is designed to feel.

Joy is already within you. You can’t add anything more to it, and it can never be diminished.

Peaceable yoga will help you see how unnecessary tension within your actions shifts you off-center.

It is in this clear space of awareness, presence, from which the wise action within any moment can be found.

We are natural beings, and our outside world deeply influences our constitution and daily rhythms.

Go outside, do yoga.

About Nancy

Twenty-five years on the mat, a lifetime in the landscape.

Having studied Landscape Architecture by earning a B.S. in Landscape Design and working as a designer, she’s a naturalist, believing your connection with nature to be a guiding principle in seeking harmony of the mind and body.

“We are natural beings and our outside world deeply influences our constitution and daily rhythms.”

She is a certified Kripalu Yoga teacher (RYT, 2012) and holds a Functional Mobility Yoga certification from Yoga International (2018). She has practiced Transcendental Meditation since 2010 through the Maharishi Foundation, and has continued her studies since 2003 under teachers including Devarshi Steven Hartman, Jovinna Chan, Grace Jull, Angela Farmer, and Steven Weiss.

Teaching from an open and honest perspective her yoga is real and practical, focusing on the important things: breathing, movement, alignment, balancing flexibility with strength, and developing a clear awareness of what’s going on within and around you.

“Sharing this practice is so important because people of all ages can start where they are. There is no perfect time or place. Working with our minds is the only way we’ll actually begin to feel lasting contentment.”

Nancy believes that being an ongoing student is the most important aspect of life. She strives to learn as much as she can through the wisdom of others.

“Your knowledge is so deep. How many times per class you mention some slight adjustment in a pose, and it’s exactly the thing I need to get there. How does she always know?”

Mary B.

“Not so much a class as a time and place for peaceful and friendly yoga instruction that comes with inspiration, reflection, and relaxation. Best yoga class I’ve ever been to.”
